Gather and Pray

19/11/2020

The November Gather and Pray  will be a Mass offered by Father Stephen Beale on  Thursday 19th in the church of St Michael's Ashford TW15 2QD, for all associated with the Pastoral Care Project, he has quite a list of intentions this month.  including all the Holy Souls.

This month we pray especially for all the dead, how does gather and pray  work when we are isolated?  The church teaches us that in every Mass we join in the Mass in Heaven, therefore we must be gathering and praying with them, and so physically isolated, spiritually united.

This song The Fathers Love,
several years in the making, is piogent  for this moment.
Please feel free to share it.

Seasons of Hope

1/10/2020

Lord, may your name be blessed
in the seasons of my life.
In the springtide of my hopes,
sow a seed that never dies.
May the summer of my labours be
as the harvest of your love.
The winter of my days the
 sharing of your cross.
With, and in you, may we become that single grain,
falling to the ground and rising to eternal life.

This prayer was sent to us for Lent/Easter by
Bishop David McGough.

The words offer us hope, as do the words in the song The Father's LoveVideos

The Fathers Love

24/9/2020

The following reflection 'The Fathers Love' may help to adjust to the the changing season, along with many changes. The fears, joys and expectations, whether as an individual, organisation or school.

This reflection The Fathers Love has been widely used when visiting schools,  several adapting it to  lessons or liturgy.
It could be used with Lectio Divina as part of The God Who Speaks initiative.

Download the song of the same name sung by the Holy Family Primary School, Coventry, sadly the shielding from COVID-19 meant it couldn't be finished, however in August, the Day for Life/God who Speaks department of the Bishops Conference willing combined images with  the song to create a very moving video., which you may wish to share.
If you are viewing this video on a portable device you may wish to view it on the videos page to ensure the size is correct.

'gather and pray'

Welcome to the first ' gather and pray' since shielding; let us draw inspiration from the words in Sundays' reading:  Romans; 8:26-27 "The Spirit comes to help us in our weakness".

We are invited to unite in 'gather and pray' this Sunday 19th July,  with Father Stephen Beale, as he offers Mass at 10.00.am, in the Community Chapel of the Sons of Divine Providence, Upholland. There isn't the facilities for streaming the Mass, be assured, the Lord hears every prayer, however, wherever we pray.

Lord. may your name be blessed

Lord, may your name be blessed
in the seasons of my life.
In the springtide of my hopes,
sow a seed that never dies.
May the summer of my labours be
as the harvest of your love.
The winter of my days the
 sharing of your cross.
With, and in you, may we become that single grain,
falling to the ground and rising to eternal life.

Thank you to Bishop David McGough for this Lent/Easter Prayer

The Pastoral Care Project sadly, has to restrict the charity work  in the office until we receive further instructions regarding the Caronavirus.
During this time we continue to join in prayer with everyone in the prayer that Jesus taught us all to say:  Our Father....
The Video on the Our Father may offer you encouragement, and hope, along with all of the videos on the link.

Dementia Prayer Week 12-19 March 2020

28/2/2020

Dear Friends,

Welcome to the twelfth annual Dementia Prayer Week 12 - 19 March 2020, which will be launched by Bishop David McGough, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Birmingham, offering his private Mass, so let us respond to his invitation:

“Let this Prayer Week become your link to the many families struggling with dementia…Prayer is a very powerful way of connecting with all concerned.  Let us pray for, and with, those whose lives have been touched by dementia.  In this way we become one with them, and with the Lord.”
Bishop David’s ‘Dementia Family Prayer’ and Archbishop Bernard Longley’s ‘Anointing of the Holy Spirit’ prayer can be found in the Dementia family Ministry Prayer card available in small or large packs from Redemptorist Publications online shop www.rpbooks.co.uk/dementia-prayer-card-5-pack

There are may ways in which to respond to Bishop David’s invitation:
the official resource pack also supports our annual appeal, whether it is as one of your Lent charities or with a donation.
Two videos talks: ‘Dementia – New Creation’ and ‘Our Father’ by Monsignor Paul Watson STL MA (B Ed) Birmingham are an excellent resource whatever the need.

It would be lovely to hear how you are spreading the word and touching hearts and minds email  [email protected]  or post the completed template poster on our Facebook page or twitter @dementiaaprayer

Your generosity over the years which has had far reaching effect – thank you so much.
United in prayer

The Presentation in the Temple

4/2/2020

The Presentation in the Temple Luke 2: 22-40 is the revelation of the Fathers’ love.
Listening to the homily  on Sunday and hearing Father Simon Hall speak about Simeon, an old man waiting for and recognising the Lord so he could see salvation and die in peace. This touched me deeply,  the significance of this in the lives of those we hold dear,  and indeed in my own life too.

How do I who was baptised as an infant, prepare to enter  door of death to life everlasting.

Death is taboo subject in our society, and often avoided even more so, when a person is suffering from dementia.  Whilst they may not be able to communicate verbally   no one knows  the spiritual communication between an individual and God, especially at this time.
From my experiences of  pastoral ministry with the sick, the nearer they are to the holy door, the greater the challenge  - the unknowing, for those caring for them -  the greater the blessings received.

To assist them prepare for what might be a critical time, the section  Pastoral Care of the Sick, and  Critical Illness or approaching Death section in the  My Funeral Mass Instructions document offers a way of opening up conversations with the family. It may help where the relative may wish  to be reconciled to God through the sacraments, even if its been a long time since they went to church.

The My Funeral Mass Instructions  document approved by the Catholic Bishops of England and Wales has been recently revised, and includes a Message from Cardinal Nichols. It is available to purchase through  Redemptorist Publications, online shop, making it easier for individuals to obtain copies.
It also offers generous discounts for parishes. Consider  purchasing copies to include with  a healthcare plan and  prepaid funeral, this will ensure that the Funeral Mass is recorded for the next of kin, health care professionals, and the clergy.

Purchasing the documents also helps supports the charitable work of this charity.
