Pastoral Care Project - Parish Pastoral Companions
Pastoral Companions is an initiative which grew out of a Light our of Darkness weekend retreat in Bridgend Deaery Cardiff Diocese. Parishioners who had previously attended a Dementia Spirituality Talk felt they wanted to deepen their spirituality and discern where they were being led in helping those in their community.
From that Retreat we have led similar Days of Reflection in parishes and convents and it is being used in the formation of young people wishing to volunteer in their community.

Below are just a few of the parishes, deaneries and organisations who were concerned for the pastoral care of the elderly. The Pastoral Care Project worked with them, provided training, enabling them to set up support groups in their area.
Is does this fit in with what you are looking for, perhaps you wish to know more about having a retreat day in your parish or for your orgaisation, then please do get in touch with Frances Molloy via the contact page.

An email received from Elizabeth Hughes from the Bridgend Deanery.
"Since the retreat weekend in May – ‘Sacredness of the Human Heart' the Deanery Pastoral Companions have met regularly for prayer, reflection and faith-sharing and organised the first Quiet Day - Show us, Oh Lord, the Path of Life."
The response from the participants was very positive and we would like to share a few of their comments with you:
"The warm companionship of the people and of the peace and quiet during the periods of meditation”.
Perhaps there are carers where you live who would benefit from support if so the Pastoral Care Project would be happy to support you in setting up a group where you live, or offer a retreat day?
